Dr. Smith is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, and serves as a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. He is the medical director for Washington University athletics. He also has served as a team physician for the NHL St. Louis Blues hockey club since 2009 and for the MLS St. Louis City Soccer Club since 2023. He was an AOSSM traveling fellow to Asia-Pacific in 2013. He specializes in treatment of sports injuries of the knee, shoulder and elbow with a special interest in throwing athletes.
