Dr. Cohen is a board-certified sports medicine surgeon. He is the head team physician and medical director for the Philadelphia Phillies. The 2026 season will be Dr. Cohen’s 20th in professional baseball. He currently serves on the medical advisory board for Major League Baseball and recently served as the President of the Major League Baseball Team Physician Association. He is on the board of directors for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine He is a professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University and is the co-director of sports medicine research at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his medical degree from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Virginia and followed with a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
