Michael G. Ciccotti, M.D. is the Everett J. and Marian Gordon Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Rothman Institute and Thomas Jefferson University Health System in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine as well as the Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship and Research at the Rothman Institute and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He also currently serves as the Chairman Emeritus of the Major League Baseball Medical Advisory Committee, the Past-President of the Orthopaedic Learning Center, and as the 49th President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has been the Head Team Physician and Medical Director for the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Team as well as Saint Joseph’s University for more than 25 years. He is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his orthopaedic residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Sports Clinic in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Ciccotti has served as President of the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association and as Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Consultant for the Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Team, Philadelphia Eagles Football Team, and Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Team. In addition, he has been Program Chairman, Education Chairman and Executive Board Member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Most importantly, he and his wife of 38 years, Patti, are the proud parents of four children, Michael, Matthew, Emma and Caroline.
